1st week as a Texan

So after the 4th, the hubs had to go back to work and I was left to figure out how to fill my days! I went to the bx and picked up some things, headed to the library to start my new summer reading and went for some walks around base. I got out Water for Elephants and Belong to me. Water for elephants, so far, is really interesting. We are still in hubbys dorm so I have had some flashbacks to college days. We did get word that our house would be ready to move in this wednesday. So there is light at the end of the tunnel!

It is quite an adjustment not working in the summer. I have worked every summer since I was 16 and full time for the past three years. I start my 3rd semester of my masters program at the end of August and I will be taking three classes so that should keep me quite busy.

With the ups and downs and unpredictability of the military, I want to wait to make sure we will be at this base for a while before I look for a job. Taking three classes will be time consuming so ideally I would like to find a part time job but we will see what there is. The base is in an area where it is mostly spanish speaking outside the base so I would love a job on the base but we will see what is available.

This weekend we don't have any set plans. I think another tropical storm is coming through which stinks but next week it looks clear and sunny!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!
