First off: Both my grad classes start on January 25 and they posted their syllabus on blackboard yesterday. One class is about how changes in the environment affect us, similar to an ecology class, doesn't seem to bad or busy, 4 2-4 page papers and 1group project along with discussion board questions. My other class is a survey of human resource management and just reading the announcement on blackboard overwhelmed me. I have 4 papers to write, two book reports, group project and my prof. decided to put all the discussion board posts up ahead of time, which is not good for nerd bombers like me who see a list and want to get as much done as possible on it! After putting together a fantastic binder and organizing all the documents for each class. I feel a little better!

Second: Work changes... Yesterday we had a meeting at work to discuss the new mayor's changes that would affect our department. I work for the city I live in's water department. We are not at city hall, we are in our own building. One of the changes occurring is our hours of operation. Right now I have been working 830-430 for the past year and a half. Now we will be open from 8am to 5pm. And myself and another girl are really the only employees being affected which sucks! A sheet was sent around asking what our preferred hours would be 8-4, 830-430, or 9-5. Everyone it seems is getting their choice except myself and co-worker. I feel this is unfair and seeing I am part of a union checked out my union book and contacted my union rep. She is also dealing with concerns on the same subject in her office and is filing a grievance to the city about it. Definitly keep you posted on what happens...

Third: Seeing I had both these things on my mind today, I was a little preoccupied this morning. We are having a little luncheon at work today, not the best timing with all this tension due to the new changes. I am bringing chips and dip, not too complicated lol. I totally forgot to grab my nutrigrain bar for breakfast. One of the guys I worked for heard me when I realized I forgot it and was heading to the store for the party and picked me up 16 pack of ng bars!! So nice of him!!

Anyways, hopefully this work issue will get resolved soon! More important things to worry about like grad school and my wedding! Happy Thursday!
Hi there! That was so sweet of your co-worker! Sorry to hear about the work drama; that is great that you called your union rep. I hope it gets fixed. So that's weird that you go 8-5 bc that wasn't even an option listed on your choices? You won't be there for that much longer anyway, so just concentrate on your wedding and grad. school! And don't get overwhelmed by all your projects; this is great! It will keep your mind busy so you don't get too sad missing your lover boy! See you tmr!
ReplyDeletewell the bright side is that you HAVE a union rep. I work from pretty much 7am until 6pm every day (when i'm not out on the road traveling) and no one to complain to unless i want to be fired. :)
ReplyDeletehang in there - you just have a lot going on right now. i know how stressful wedding planning is & i didn't even have grad school to worry about like you do!
Sorry about the work situation. Hopefully it'll all get straightened out!
ReplyDeleteHow annoying about work, you should def. have the right to pick your hours if everyone else has a say! Good luck!
